DetailsInspired by traditional Japanese patterns, this handmade leather wrist strap was cut, etched, dyed and painted right here in our shop. Made from incredibly strong and durable vegetable tanned (naturally tanned) full grain leather. This wristlet strap can be added to your bag or zip pull or attached to your wallet or keychain. A great way to add a bit of personal style to your keys, wallet, ID badge, bag or clutch!
How I made it:
I was inspired by the beautiful patterns and designs in Japanese silk kimonos, print making, and washi paper, and created this design with these patterns in mind.
The leather for the strap was hand cut from a thick and rugged full grain vegetable tanned leather hide.
The strap was precision cut, and the design was permanently etched into the leather in black.
- Each side of the strap is etched with the same design
- Includes hemp flower/Asanoha, waves/Seigaiha, clouds, and cherry blossoms/Sakura
Selected portions of the design remain in natural tan, for contrast: clouds and the two larger blossoms on each side
Selected portions of the design were hand painted in gold, using specialty leather paints: alternating stripes in the waves, and the two smaller flowers on each side
The leather was specially hand dyed to enhance the natural beauty of the leather using mahogany antique with a unique distressed finish, so it has a great vintage look.
Several top coats were applied to add a subtle satin finish that will both enhance the beauty and longevity of your strap.
The strap was bonded and riveted to ensure lasting strength, with antique brass hardware attached.

Sizing details
There are many different sizes of card decks, so be sure to check your specific deck's measurement against your listing before ordering.
Most tarot card cases are sized to house a standard sized tarot deck or smaller. The standard cases will house this size deck or smaller:
2 7/8 inches (72mm) wide
1.25 inches (32mm) deep
4 15/16 inches (125mm) tall.
All our standard size tarot cases are tested at the time of creation and prior to shipping, using a classic RW deck from a US publisher. We also have listings in our shop for palm sized (slightly smaller) or oversized decks. If you need a larger case to fit your specific deck, I would be happy to custom build one for you. Vegetable tanning is an organic process to preserve the leather. It uses natural tannins from plant sources, making it more environmentally friendly. It’s a slow process which takes weeks to months to complete.
Vegetable-tanned leather has some rigidity to it, which helps the product to retain its shape and integrity. Vegetable-tanned leather will soften and develop a rich patina over time, meaning your item will develop a unique and appealing appearance as it ages, only getting better with time.
By contrast, chrome-tanned leather is quickly chemically and more inexpensively tanned. It may present toxins to the environment and manufacturing employees. "Vegan", faux, or PU leather is petroleum-based polyurethane/vinyl.
